Discover Coma Beach’s Punk-Rock Classic ‘Another Song’

Coma Beach is an alternative punk-rock act hailing from Würzburg in Germany. In 2021, the band put out their debut album ‘The Scapegoat’s Agony’, a thirteen-track record that introduced their blend of alternative punky goodness to the world. Since then, Coma Beach has been releasing some of the tunes from the album as singles, and I can’t wait for you to meet ‘Another Song’. Fast-paced, raw, and full of energy, it’s a song that harks back to the golden age of punk. Think Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Saints, and so forth.

When asked about the meaning of ‘Another Song’, the band mentioned finding inspiration in the works of Samuel Beckett. In fact, ‘The Scapegoat’s Agony’ is an allusion to Beckett’s famous play Waiting for Godot. “We take a good harsh look at the absurdities and cruelties of everyday life,” says the act. “The unnamed antihero resorts to sarcasm and cynicism to cope with what he regards as the utter meaningless of human existence”. So, luckily, nothing too heavy then!

Punk was always a strange one for me and, except for The Clash, took me quite some time to appreciate. Once a puzzle, it’s a genre that now deeply resonates with me, and ‘Another Song’ has only further enhanced my appreciation.
