Discover Cartamira’s Fairy Aura in Dreamy Jewel ‘Amber Creatures’

It’s been fun being hypnotised by Cartamira’s kaleidoscopic sonic work. Gearing up for their upcoming third studio album ‘Perfect Bloom’, expected later this month, the Italian trio appears to have perfected a highly enticing aural formula, one that blurs the line between dance-oriented electronica, dreamy textures and leftfield pop elegance. ‘Amber Creatures’ is the strongest evidence of that. Introduced by an inquisitive synth-powered arpeggiator, the track then leaves ample space to Cartamira’s ethereal, evocative vocals, wrapping listeners into an otherworldly fever dream, one that feels expansive and lush, yet intense and haunting.

Whichever way you look at it, the Italian group is hard to fit into specific boxes. Simply, they operate on the fringe, borrowing from a multitude of sources and building a musical puzzle that’s highly enticing and alluring. Again, ‘Amber Creatures’ confirms that, with a stark contrast between the hazy production and the seemingly pop-friendly vocal melodies. Describing the piece as a “witch-house fairy tale”, Cartamira explains: “a fairy tale narrated from the POV of its villain (Baba Yaga)”.
