Writing on ‘About Love’, we proudly declared it as “strong vibes reminiscent of The Beatles and The Kinks, nostalgia-laced and full of depth and soul”. We stand by our words; taking inspiration from a variety of sources, the project flourishes thanks to the eclectic and experienced mind of ALIEN FRIEND, a Swedish musician formerly of the band Redmoon.
‘Summer’s Gate’ is the perfect evidence of what Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends stand for. Drawing from prog rock, psychedelia and a nostalgic look at the 70s, the track develops with evocative energy and deep lyricism, wrapping listeners into a vivid fever dream that’s soft and elegant, yet striking and impactful. ‘Summer’s Gate’ is taken from the group’s 2021 album ‘17 birds at the Summer’s Gate’.
Speaking about the piece, ALIEN FRIEND explains: “If you like Pink Floyd and epic 70’s tunes with hints of folky melodies and blues guitars, this might be right up your alley. The lyrics were written in 2020, but actually make even sense in the unpredictable and chaotic times of 2025”. Some say that music is timeless, well, we believe that ‘Summer’s Gate’ certainly is.
