There’s something incredibly hypnotising in ‘All to Myself’. Both intense and hypnotising, the record seems to approach its identity with a rather eclectic formula, blending alt-pop decadence with vaporwave euphoria and a comfy lo-fi character. It’s really good: introduced by a gloomy, tight production, ‘All to Myself’ develops through arpeggiated synths and minimal textures, proving to be the perfect match for Abby Noelle’s detailed and evocative vocals.
Standing as the project’s second single, the track follows up from last year’s ‘What Are You Doing With Your Time’, equally niche and melancholic. We can begin to pick out a pattern in Noelle’s artistry: she truly enjoys murky aural territories and luscious, fuzzy vocals, often delving into introspective themes and relatable lyricism. ‘weight of the world’ is also out now, Abby’s latest single to see the light of day. In it, we find a more guitar-lenient approach to the subject matter, briefly shifting Noelle into indie and post-punk territories despite always maintaining an approachable pop identity.
