Dave Violenza Drops Intense Electronica Piece ‘Incessante’

We are certainly familiar with Italian-born, Melbourne-based creative and sonic wizard Dave Violenza. Featuring ‘Shimmering Lullaby’ earlier this year, we proudly declared it “an infinite revolving door of aural gold, wrapping listeners in a liminal, cathartic universe”. We stand by our words; Violenza know a thing or two about evoking a particular emotion using boundary-pushing electronica and fresh compositional techniques. In fact, he’s now back with another gem, a piece that it’s rather different from its predecessor, gloomier and more substantial.

‘Incessante’ finds refuge in intense techno-flavoured grooves, yet still carries Violenza’s nuanced and authentic creative vision. Navigating melancholic leftfield shores, the record layers Italian spoken words over a sea of dark synthetisers and cosmic, noisy percussions. As an easter egg, the track also features a spoken word performance by Dave’s mother. Overall, ‘Incessante’ is highly hypnotising, wrapping listeners into a powerful, illusory aural trip, one we won’t forget anytime soon.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the composition, Violenza explains: “The instrumental core came together in less than a week, born from a moment of pure creative momentum. But the true heart of the track took shape slowly, over months of writing, recording, and refining. Getting the lyrics right took longer than anything else. I wanted every word to feel inevitable.”
