D3PRT Unveils Hypnotic, Brooding UK Garage Cut ‘FrGrry’

‘FrGrry’ thrives in the shadow, aiding a listening experience that feels spooky and hypnotic, certainly intense and chaotic.

‘FrGrry’ is not a record that needs to be explained or studied. It’s a record that needs to be felt, it needs to be absorbed through a primal will to dance, the kinda track that emerges victorious in alternative late-night dancefloors and haunting listening parties. Whichever way you look at it, it’s hard to remain neutral to ‘FrGrry’. On its part, the piece collects an eclectic pool of electronic influences, delving into garage and UK bass with a stark, dark character and leftfield allure. It’s a crepuscular offering, one that moves on the fringes of popular dance music, yet it never quite reaches it.

Instead, ‘FrGrry’ thrives in the shadow, aiding a listening experience that feels spooky and hypnotic, certainly intense and chaotic. Packed with chopped-up vocal samples and twitchy, dubstep-esque bass sounds, the production is absolutely world-class, managing to endorse both extended kinetic energy and an evocative aura. Behind such a carefully constructed sonic formula, we find British aural alchemist D3PRT, a creative figure who’s adamant about the need to explore dance music on personal terms. Not looking to fit a particular mould or any mainstream movement, the Hertford-based producer moves with purpose and uniqueness.

Delving deeper into his creative process, D3PRT explains: “My approach is focused on groove, tension, and space, letting tracks evolve naturally instead of forcing outcomes. There’s no interest in chasing trends or over-polishing, just following ideas through in a way that feels honest and functional.” We appreciate the project’s ethos, very refreshing and unapologetic.
