Chip Pirrs Gears Up for Upcoming EP with ‘Tønder’

If we had to describe Chip Pirrs using one word only, it would probably be ‘eclecticism’. The American producer and songwriter has a particular knack for exploring the deserted and blurred lands at the boundaries of genres. He doesn’t fit in a box, rather, he creates his own, managing to provide sonic material that’s experimental, exciting and rather innovative.

Often, you’ll find him wandering between pop, electronica and RnB, carefully borrowing the best from each category. Take for instance ‘Tønder’, one of Pirrs’ latest tracks. In it, the listener will be confronted with evocative, ethereal and gooey sound design, choral vocals and bright synths, all providing the perfect background for Chip’s evocative and timeless vocals.

Lyrically, the song seeks to tell a tale of love and loss, only to be confronted with the harshness of reality. Set in a small Denmark town, Tønder, the scene sees a couple finding refuge in the sanctity of marriage, hoping to save their relationship. Love cannot be produced artificially – the move eventually didn’t work, dashed against the rocks of reality.

The record marks the journey to a longer release, an EP expected later in the year, ‘Places I’ve Left Myself’. A vivid reminder of the beauty and fragility of life, ‘Tønder’ is a testament to the power of music to take us on a journey to the places we have left behind.
