Chavar Dontae Shares Cool Indie Jewel ‘Too Much’

‘Too Much’ is not, actually, too much. It’s instead the right amount of brightness, indie sleaze and edgy electronica, all packed together into an irresistible and incredibly contemporary formula. Penned by American songster Chavar Dontae, the record showcases the highly alluring territories it’s navigating in, balanced between retrowave, lo-fi and more relatable indie pop goodness.

An honest and vulnerable take on Dontae’s personal experience, ‘Too Much’ is rather intense in its sonic livery, although the lyricism takes a somewhat more poignant and melancholic direction. As he explains: “I wrote this song about a time I was feeling isolated even being around a plethora of people. The feeling of someone knowing of me but not knowing my essence as a human being.”

With that in mind, it’s easy to consider the single as a personal, authentic anthem, a product of fierce personal expression that Chavar now shares with the whole world, perhaps hoping to inspire fellow listeners not to feel so alone.
