Cera Gibson Reclaims Her Power with Empowering Piece ‘I Found God’

Cera Gibson needs no introduction; in fact, chances are you have already come across her on social media, where she’s become a champion of virality thanks to her witty and humorous take on music and activism. In fact, she’s perhaps now transcended her music status and entered the influencer sphere. Whichever way you look at it, there’s no doubt that Gibson holds a great deal of creative potential, always explored with the holistic perspective that fits her so well.

Take, for instance, ‘I Found God’, Gibson’s latest effort. Taken from her recently released EP ‘pinksoak’, the single is as haunting and elegant as it can be, delivering a sultry and empowering message steeped in sexual freedom and authenticity. Built on liminal and gloomy indie pop, the record does a good job of balancing Cera’s dynamic, hypnotising vocals and a contemporary, uplifting production, making for a piece with a surprising amount of leftfield flavourings.

Yet, the prize is in its message. Seeking to “reclaim sexual power after an underwhelming relationship”, ‘I Found God’ stands tall as a call for pleasure, self-discovery and shameless exploration. The accompanying video is the perfect match for such a bold single, as Gibson explains: “It challenges mainstream media’s exclusionary portrayal of sexuality. Featuring a cast of men, women, and gender-nonconforming individuals of all ages and body types, it’s a bold statement: sexual liberation is for everyone.”
