Carrying Torches Return with Brand New Single ‘Gone’

Marking a new phase for the Midwest outfit, ‘Gone’ balances brooding lyricism with fizzy Heartland Rock bonanza. Carrying Torches are the best they have ever been.

While we came across Carrying Torches only recently, the band itself has been around for almost a decade now, developing what they like to call Electric Heartland Garage Rock, a highly enticing formula drawing from a variety of influences, be it bluesy, stomping riffs or more alternative flavourings. Carrying Torches has definitely shifted their aural imprint across the years, yet always keeping one crucial feature: material that’s as sonically rich as it is lyrically meaningful. ‘Gone’ is once again loyal to such tradition.

Exploring the aftermath of loss and its emotional consequences, the track is fully grounded in relevant songwriting. Yet, the production and arrangement carry an undertone of pop-punk fizziness, then blur into alt-rock territories. This creates a balance between a seemingly sombre lyrical theme and a fiercer, more uplifting instrumental. Interestingly, ‘Gone’ will be the subject of an extensive college radio campaign, and we feel as though it is a timely and fitting choice, given the record at hand and its potential.

Looking at ‘Gone’ from a wider perspective, the single also represents a welcome comeback for the Midwest outfit, their first release since last summer and the recipient of a refined national push. Carrying Torches are eager for more, and they seem to be in the right mindset to achieve their goals. Delving deeper into the track, they explain: “It explores what it means to carry the weight of the past while refusing to disappear under it.” Stay tuned!
