Bromsen Returns with Electro-Pop Gem ‘We!’

Bromsen’s material often carries a strong tension between synthesisers and guitars, as if their music was constantly balanced between electronica and indie tropes, slowly blending the two with easiness and charming flair. It is clear that the German Duo has settled on a particular formula, one that greatly echoes a certain early 2000’ nostalgia, perhaps aided by their beginnings during that time. Eventually, one can safely describe their music as electro-indie, although we did name them as an indietronica outfit in the past.

In fact, their latest effort, ‘We!’, shuffles the cards a fair bit, supercharging the group guitars both in distortion amount and presence. What does that tell us? Well, it tells us that Bromsen are an ever-evolving entity, with a wide field of influences and characters. ‘We!’ is another fantastic offering from the Berlin residents: navigating upbeat territories, the track floats between punchy and massive synth leads and punk-flavoured guitars, creating a stark contrast between the group’s mellow and gritty sides.

What side are you on? We might prefer the synth-laced tracks, but honestly, it all ends up being a very original and peculiar sound concoction, showcasing the project’s authenticity. Lyrically, the song aims to highlight the strong friendship between Bromsen’s Karlo and Richard. As they explain: “Such a deep and long-standing friendship can carry you through a period of weakness and often you emerge even stronger afterwards feeling free like a bird again who wants to fly higher and higher as described in the song…”.
