It’s been a while since we wrote about Bones in Butter. What started as the solo project of Milutin Krasevic, then turned into a fully-fledged psych/post-punk outfit, perhaps the only group from Serbia we are aware of, at the moment. Well, their artistry and overall ethos are rather international, so much so that the project has caught the attention of a fair number of curators all over the globe. Mesmerized featured ‘Cosmopolis’ back in May 2024, an album we described as “a blend of chewy psychedelic rock”.
We stand by our words, so much so that we are eager to focus our attention on a perhaps overlooked track, ‘Persona Non Grata’. A surprisingly digestible and eclectic offering, the single well showcases Krasevic’s malleable, gloomy vocals and his ambiguous, witty lyrical flair. Recorded at the Hill River studio in Zemun, Belgrade, ‘Persona Non Grata’ seeks to sweeten Bones in Butter’s transition to brand new material, an endeavour that’s planned for later this year.
You have heard it here, folks: new music is coming. For now, we would suggest you familiarise yourself with ‘Cosmopolis’ once again. As Milutin eloquently explains: “Initially, we didn’t intend to make any single releases. But since we intend to start releasing a cycle of new songs by the end of 2025, I thought it might be a good idea to launch this track, sort of os a transition.”
