Ari Joshua is back at it! The Seattle-based guitarist and vocalist has plenty showcased his heightened musicianship and technical flair, but apparently he’s not done yet with it comes to new records, new ensembles and potent collaborations. Recently, he’s unveiled a stunning rendition of ‘Voodoo Chile’, Jimi Hendrix’s seminal piece, wrapping it all in bluesy, psychedelic energy and limitless solos.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Joshua explains: “You don’t just cover Hendrix—you summon his spirit! This track has an aura, a weight to it, we didn’t pre-meditate it, this was the one take, we wanted to tap into that OG 1960’s electricity while bringing our own spirit to the table.”
As always, Ari has teamed up with a series of fantastic musicians and artists:
Russ Lawton – Drums
Ray Paczkowski – Keys
Ben Collette – Tracking Engineer, at Tank Recording
Jonathan Plum – Mixing Engineer, Mat London Bridge Studios
Joe Lambert – Mastering Engineer
Burgandy Viscosi – Illustration
Monte Mitchel, Forest Shore Designs – Art Layout
