Driving an evocative and poignant listening experience, ‘Hold Me Close’ well adapts to the nocturne and intimate end-of-year feeling, a time often shrouded in introspection and warm, fuzzy emotions. Penned by British soul-blues specialists Andy Crowe & The Eisen Family, the record marks the project’s comeback episode, following up from 2023 ‘Feel Alright Now’, and taking a two-year break to a close. Safe to say, both Crowe and The Eisen Family haven’t lost their musical prowess. On the contrary, it’s the best it’s ever been.
Hailing from Burton Upon Trent, the talented singer-songwriter has now embraced a keen soulful ethos, a wholesome and relatable persona that weel adapts to Andy’s malleable, charming and slightly jagged vocals. ‘Hold Me Close’ is a joy to listen to, especially once the chorus explodes into heartwarming tenderness and expansive dreaminess. Echoing the great blues crooners of the past, Crowe shakes mountains and seas with a relentless, striking tone, a quality that fits the song’s highly expressive lyricism.
Delving deeper into the message behind ‘Hold Me Close’, Andy Crowe explains: “‘Hold Me Close’ is about vulnerability. About letting your guard down and allowing yourself to be seen. It’s one of the most soulful songs we’ve recorded yet, and it really captures where we’re heading as a band.”
