Anders Ekblad Returns with Hazy Jewel ‘Early Mornings’

Anders Ekblad and Crissi Cochrane team up on a celestial, dreamy piece, a slice of aural elegance and quaint lyrical charge. Meet ‘Early Mornings’.

Aptly titled, ‘Early Mornings’ moves tenderly and with care, slowly unfurling its evocative luscious allure and quaint, acoustic tones. In a way, the piece could be described as ‘celestial’, as it mainly manifests to the listener as a sonic mirage, a slice of dreamy goodness with a feverish twist. Built on a riveting and cinematic production, ‘Early Mornings’ feels more like a soundscape at times, all drenched in spacious reverbs and angelic harmonies. The addition of seagull samples makes it all even more magical.

Behind such a stunning offering, we find Swedish troubadour Anders Ekblad, here showcasing his featherly, deep vocals alongside the brilliant female tone of Crissi Cochrane, a precious collaborator on the track. The alchemy between Ekblad and Cochrane works very well, giving ‘Early Mornings’ a quasi-choral outlook. It’s a deeply harmonious gem.

Keeping true to its hazy and tender aural livery, ‘Early Mornings’ delivers a nostalgic yet elegant lyrical theming. As we are told, it celebrates “the bittersweet feeling of love that lingers long after it’s gone”, also seeking to hold onto the so-called ‘Miracle Land’, a “symbolic place where love, possibility, and presence exist without limits”. We appreciate the dualism between the song’s lighthearted, feathery outward character and its deeper songwriting layer.
