The New York-based troubadour has graced our blog last summer, as we delightfully analysed his EP ‘Heartsplit’, a record we celebrated as a “hypnotic record that constantly oscillates between introspection and fierceness.” We stand behind our words, and in fact, the balance between aural boldness and lyrical tenderness has been a staple of Morrison’s artistry for quite some time now.
It’s a feature that speaks volumes about the gifted musicianship he has to offer. ‘Everybody Bleeds’ serves as a striking reminder of that, as well as delivering the project’s latest single. In it, Morrison finds a more authentic rock flair, pairing Britpop-style catchiness with hints of evocative alternative elements. Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels ‘Everybody Bleeds’, Morrison explains: “It is about the hidden struggles people carry. I found it as a 14-year-old demo from my producer, and it hit during a time I was obsessing over my own struggles. I co-produced it and performed it live in NYC in January, months before releasing it.”
