‘How lucky i am’ is the living definition of an uplifting song. Truly! Its positive flair is rather hypnotising, and it could even prove too sweet to digest for some. Yet, such unrelentingly optimistic and confident art might be just what we need, especially during our tumultuous, controversial times. We expect the piece to resonate with a large audience out there. Penned by British troubadour AltoKey, ‘how lucky i am’ marks his return to the global pop landscape, opening the floodgates for an upcoming EP.
Calling London his home, AltoKey already boasts an impressive curriculum; connecting with a whopping two million like-minded listeners across all platforms, the talented creative also enjoyed appearances on the silver screen, featuring on E4’s ‘Will You Marry Me?’ as well as having his music synced on ITV’s Love Island. ‘How luck i am’ seeks to capitalise on all that goodwill, showing us a path forward that’s rather inspiring and idealistic, but crucially relevant.
Wrapped in shiny and catchy synth-pop, the single feels heartwarming and friendly, a perfect match for AltoKey’s malleable, elegant vocals. Delving deeper into his forthcoming material, he explains: “The entire EP is really a collection of songs all about uplifting people. The lyrics are all things I wish someone had told me when I’ve had my own struggles in life. Things like ‘you’re honestly doing so well’, ‘there’s a reason that I’m holding on’ and ‘nothing can hold me back’.”
