Allan Jamisen Gears Up for Upcoming Album with ‘Rise Above’

Fiercely gearing up for an upcoming album, ‘Life Lessons’, American troubadour and creative Allan Jamisen has debuted earlier this year with a string of evocative and eclectic singles to his name. ‘Rise Above’ is the track that started it all, a nugget of earthy, gloomy rock fuzziness with a certain theatrical flair in it. Jamisen’s smoky, full-bodied vocals are the star of the show, completely capturing the listeners’ attention thanks to introspective, meaningful lyricism and a good balance between melodies and spoken words.

Jamisen is quick in pointing out a deep resemblance to Johnny Cash’s gritty, raw artistry. We agree with that, yet the final product is more expansive, with sharp and distorted guitar tones widening the aural painting. Speaking of paintings, Allan is also a gifted professional painter and visual artist, with his work featured in several renowned galleries both in the US and Denmark, where he spent a few years immersed in European culture.

In a way, ‘Rise Above’ and the upcoming ‘Life Lessons’ do reflect Jamisen’s cultural depth, evoking a musical product that’s rather unique and personal. Simply, the American musician is pursuing his own path, improving on a few strong influences. ‘Rise Above’ was co-produced by industry veteran John X Volaitis (The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman).
