Al Mitchell & The New Born Sinners Return with Eclectic Gem ‘Monroe’

The keen reader might remember English eclectic rock outfit Al Mitchell & The New Born Sinners from a feature we did last year about their previous single ‘Georgia’. Praising the song, we proudly declared: “Music that leaves a lasting effect on the listener, hypnotised by the punchy fuzziness and kaleidoscopic percussions featured in the track”. We stand by our words: the Hasting-based project has a very peculiar way of blending opposite styles together, making for a stream of artistic extravaganza that feels fresh and unique, certainly elegant.

‘Monroe’ is Al Mitchell & The New Born Sinners’ latest effort. Built on the very same successful formula that made ‘Georgia’ such a positive anthem, ‘Monroe’ raises the tempo by a few BPM, making for a piece that’s decisively more indie and euphoric, the perfect match for the group’s synthetic component and Mitchell’s vivid, vibrant vocals, incredibly evocative and charismatic.

Some might individuate a healthy amount of 80s-flavoured influences in the record, although the general vibe is more nuanced; The flurry of synths layered over the song’s chorus has the opposite effect – a futuristic one, launching the record into visionary territories, a place that’s familiar to Al Mitchell & The New Born Sinners. That’s where they flourish, develop, and grow.
