Agon Branza Calls for Greater Empathy and Inclusivity in ‘Elevate Me’

There’s always been a certain orchestral flair in Agon Branza’s music. A committed sense of poignancy, often expressed through vocal eclecticism and choir-like epicness. In a sense, it’s elegant material, quite classic and polite. It also carries a phenomenal sense of passion, as if Branza was able to explore the deepest and most challenging corners of human consciousness. Debuting in 2020 with Glitter Guns, the London-based talent showcased a high degree of musicianship, proudly representing his fierce Queer identity and innovative force. Returning last year with ‘Some People’, it was clear Agon Branza was here to stay.

Now, the talented newcomer shares his latest effort, the particularly wholesome and evocative gem, ‘Elevate Me’. Singing through a vocoder, Agon Branza builds an emotionally fragile gem that doesn’t need much else to mesmerize the listeners: a feeble synth bass, and short bursts of electronica; everything works in harmony, leaving ample space for Branza’s incredible vocal performance. Notably, the record was captured in one take only.

Lyrically, ‘Elevate Me’ focuses on the struggles of marginalized communities, echoing a poignant call to action for greater empathy and inclusivity. This is a theme that’s very close to Agon Branza’s heart, who proudly seeks to inspire and educate listeners. The record anticipates an upcoming debut EP, created in collaboration with composer Paul Frith and Trans Voices, the UK’s first professional trans choir.
