ABBIA Gears Up for Future Releases with Comeback Gem ‘HIGH ANYMORE’

The version of ABBIA that we now encounter has much clearer ideas about where she’s going, and everything points towards her songwriting being geared towards radical honesty and unapologetic boldness.

ABBIA is back! Following up on her 2021 debut ‘STAYING INSIDE’, the New York City-based creative returned last year with ‘HIGH ANYMORE’, a single that borrows the same cultural references as its predecessor, yet elevates it to higher artistic peaks. The version of ABBIA that we now encounter has much clearer ideas about where she’s going, and everything points towards her songwriting being geared towards radical honesty and unapologetic boldness.

From a sonic standpoint, ‘HIGH ANYMORE’ blooms into a functional hybrid between cathartic alt-pop allure and kinetic trap-leaning production, with ABBIA’s hard-hitting vocals drenched in a myriad of vocoder-like effects and luscious harmonies. The result is a listening experience that’s rather peculiar and unusual, so much so that we believe the record to be pushing the envelope of what we consider pop. There are some left-field influences, and overall we are big fans of the sparse, minimalist arrangement, with ABBIA’s evocative tone confidently staying front and centre.

Delving deeper into the meaningful lyrical outlook that propels the single, we are told: “Inspired by heartbreak and shifting relationships, ‘HIGH ANYMORE’ emphasises growth and independence in our mind-blowing reality that is 2025.” We appreciate such an observant, timely message. Perhaps seeing the chaos around her is what caused ABBIA to come back. We are also happy to report that there will be more music coming from the American songstress… stay tuned!
