Tom Kuhr Shares Debut Solo EP ‘Come Along Little Brother’

‘Come Along Little Brother’ feels wholesome and authentic, a slice of human-made art in a world full of digital fakes.

The keen reader might recognise American troubadour Tom Kuhr from his militancy in Spyderhuff, a band that has been featured on our blog in the past. On this occasion, we get to discover Kuhr on a more personal level, as he unveils a debut solo effort, ‘Come Along Little Brother’. A five-track EP, the record embraces tender and nostalgic Americana with the wisdom of a seasoned songwriter, showcasing Tom’s lyrical depth and heartwarming character.

Steeped in Folk and Americana influences, ‘Come Along Little Brother’ also benefits from Don Beyer’s production skills and talented musicianship. Beyer and Kuhr share a friendship dating back to their youth, and one can hear the artistic synergy that fuelled the pair’s retro endeavours. The EP feels organic and measured, a record lost in time, one packed with lyrical poignancy and evocative hooks. Tom’s vocals are a joy to listen to, deep and charming, yet malleable and precise.

Delving into the creative ethos that propels the EP, Kuhr explains: “I’ve been bobbing and weaving to avoid being squashed by the big foot of AI. I think I managed to build some human-sounding and feeling music contraptions in my little workshop.” We certainly appreciate that; ‘Come Along Little Brother’ feels wholesome and authentic, a slice of human-made art in a world full of digital fakes.
