Awake & Dreaming Gear Up for Upcoming Album ‘Inevitable’

‘Underwater’ feels like an elegant balance between gloomy melancholy and feverish dreaminess, a constant tension between darkness and light, if you will.

It’s been a milestone year for Awake & Dreaming, and it’s about to get even better. The Ontario-based indie outfit has recently unveiled a brand new single, ‘Underwater’, following up on a string of releases that will eventually bloom into their forthcoming album, ‘Inevitable’. As we get familiar with Awake & Dreaming’s hybrid sonic formulas, we rejoice in their eclectic palette, with gritty guitars standing tall against mellower keyboard tones and hypnotic female vocals.

‘Underwater’ feels like an elegant balance between gloomy melancholy and feverish dreaminess, a constant tension between darkness and light, if you will. Such a theme is ever-present in the Canadian project’s catalogue, so much so that it also reflects in their name, the playful yet painfully real ‘awake & dreaming’. It’s actually drawn from lead vocalist Sasha’s own personal experience, as she suffers from narcolepsy.

Awake & Dreaming’s upcoming album ‘Inevitable’ drops on October 16th. Delving deeper into the LP, we are told: “It’s the band-name thesis worked all the way through: awake to the noise of modern life, dreaming anyway. The songs circle the same tensions from different angles (connection and isolation, technology you either merge with or fight off, love braided with loss) and nearly every track starts intimate and earns its way to something massive.”
