There’s a new MAMI UMAMI‘s record to look forward to. In fact, it’s already here today, dropping into our dystopian reality with all the artistic allure that MAMI UMAMI have to offer. ‘(Don’t) think I like you’ moves the Swedish duo into a poppier direction, temporarily breaking with the dance playfulness of their previous EP ‘AFTERwork’. No need to worry, though; the MAMI UMAMI we all know have crafted a track that’s a joy to listen to.

‘(Don’t) think I like you’ emerges from a rather personal place, with the talented pair seeking to distil a precise feeling of romantic nostalgia and yearning into an energetic nugget of electro-pop charisma. Curiously, compared to the band’s past catalogue, the new track is slightly less chaotic, and more focused on its songwriting. That said, the production still contains the gritty, hypnotic charge we would expect from Jaquelin Elamiri (Miss Mami) and Leonard Furby. Alex Lopez is also featured here in a co-producer role.

Delving deeper into the lyrical ethos that propels the song, MAMI UMAMI explains: “This song basically wrote itself in our shared heads in about 20 minutes after our partners had left us for work in other cities. Of course, we were incredibly happy for them; they’d both gotten amazing job offers. But no matter how happy we were for them, the sadness of being without them was huge.”
