Just a week ago, the Austin-based group has returned with a stunning album, ‘Moon En Flor’, an eleven-piece masterpiece that showcases all of the enlightened artistry that Tori, Sophia, and Tiffany Baltierra have to offer.
The listening experience behind ‘Moon En Flor’ is as eclectic as the group itself. Boasting Mexican-American heritage, the three talented sisters draw from a vast pool of influences, blending pop, rock, latin, blues, and more. The result is a stream of kaleidoscopic aural matter, a series of tracks that weave in and out of Western and Latin culture with bilingual prowess. In other words, ‘Moon En Flor’ is a striking example of cross-cultural art practice.
Delving deeper into the meaningful ethos that propels the record, The Tiarras explains: “This album is a gift of shared alchemy and unity. We stayed close to our songs, but we let ourselves go moodier too. It was made from pure alchemy, grief and joy and everything between, and it honors our mother in all of it.” As hinted, the group suffered the loss of their mother during the making of ‘Moon En Flor’, an event that charged the songs of a further layer of significance.
