The keen reader might remember Stolen Days from a feature we published earlier this summer, praising their debut effort ‘Butterfly’ as a “musical big bang that gives birth to the entire project, a single that doesn’t disappoint”. We stand by our words: the track felt eclectic and hypnotic, a cross-genre journey that well illustrated the talents behind it, the collective work of Dub Sonata and Alex Fitts of The Kickdrums.
Following up on recent singles, Stolen Days return today with what can only be described as a powerful artistic statement: a ten-track self-titled album that carries all the weight and creative charm the duo has to offer. The record is surprisingly balanced, with a keen attention to the lyricism around the songs as well as a unique perspective on the production. It’s wholesome and organic, but also electronic and nostalgically trip-hop-esque when needed.
‘No Need For Alarm’ takes the lead single role, showcasing a more evocative and reflective side of the project. Compared to ‘Daydream’, the piece is a tad more soulful and less hip-hop-driven, a sign that Stolen Days is now looking beyond their past experiences, finding a sonic compromise that will certainly take their musical journey to the next level.
