JULIENT Returns with Introspective, Crepuscular Cut ‘Desperation’

The emotional cost of adulthood is fully fleshed out in ‘Desperation’, a song that sees JULIENT at his most vulnerable and honest.

It’s been almost a year since JULIENT released an original record. Precisely, since ‘Gimme Some’, unveiled in June 2025. Back then, the focus was on disco-coded kinetic territories, a sonic theming that has now been replaced by a more intimate and reflective allure. ‘Desperation’ takes the Vienna-based creative onto the next phase of his career, indulging in a hypnotic and crepuscular alt-pop cut with hypnotic R&B influences.

The record sees JULIENT team up with Norwegian artist PÉDAL, here lending his introspective and brooding vocals to the project’s cause. The result is a piece that’s rewarding and meaningful, well complemented by Jasio Laszcyzk’s expert production. From a lyrical standpoint, growth and adulthood are concepts central to ‘Desperation’. JULIENT deals with the uncertainty and the demands of adulthood, giving a nod to personal responsibility and the need to strive for bigger goals.

Delving deeper into the introspective ethos that propels the record, we are told: “Desperation was originally written three years ago during a phase when adulthood truly began – the realisation that you are on your own and responsible for navigating life without clear guidance”. The subsequent emotional cost of such a realisation is fully fleshed out in ‘Desperation’, a song that sees JULIENT at his most vulnerable and honest. We suspect listeners will relate to it, especiallòy during such challenging and fragile times.
