Sarah Brunner Gears Up for Upcoming EP with ‘Something Else’

‘Something Else’ serves as our introduction to Sarah Brunner’s purposeful songwriting and wholesome Americana ethos. There’s an EP on the horizon, expected in August.

Marking our introduction to Sarah Brunner’s wholesome Americana universe, ‘Something Else’ marks the talented songstress’s latest single, her first solo effort in a long time. Otherwise known as a member of Seattle-based outfit The Hipocrats, Brunner has recently been recording a new EP packed with contemporary imagery and critical lyricism, a record that navigates her eclectic take on the Americana and folk genres. In fact, we’d dare say that there are hints of pop melodism, at least in ‘Something Else’. It’s a heartwarming and nostalgic piece, but also relatable and geared towards a wide audience.

From a lyrical standpoint, ‘Something Else’ explores a crucial topic that’s very dear to us at Mesmerized. Brunner hasn’t been the only one noticing how our digitally interconnected world results in people feeling more lonely and in the loss of genuine and authentic human interactions. It’s almost a paradox; technology that has been created to facilitate communication is, in turn, causing us to spend more and more time alone. The song looks at it from a personal point of view, as seen through Brunner’s witty perspective.

As we are told: “It captures what it’s like to watch someone you care about become consumed by distractions, while still holding onto the hope of reconnecting. At its core, ‘Something Else’ expresses a longing for presence and a deeper connection beyond the noise of everyday digital life.” There you go: not only is Sarah a talented musician and singer-songwriter, but she’s also a keen observer of our fragile, ever-evolving reality, crafting meaningful music that serves a precise purpose.
