Kelsie Kimberlin Returns with Powerful Cut ‘Lady Liberty’

Kelsie Kimberlin takes a hard look at modern American society, recognising its many challenges and the ongoing loss of liberties. Meet ‘Lady Liberty’.

There’s no need to introduce Kelsie Kimberlin; she’s been a fixture of the American independent music landscape for the past few years, honouring her Ukrainian roots by writing material that shines a spotlight on the ongoing war. More recently, Kimberlin was also awarded the United Nations Humanitarian Award and the St. George’s Royal Medal of Honour from King Charles for her strong support of Ukrainian freedom and liberty, an achievement that speaks volumes about the selfless, bold artistry that guides Kelsie’s complex and meaningful vision.

Speaking about liberty, Kimberlin is now back with her latest effort, ‘Lady Liberty’. In it, she takes a hard look at modern American society, recognising the challenges that are becoming more and more prominent in its everyday life. In particular, Kelsie tackles the ongoing loss of liberties, here seen from the perspective of a second-generation immigrant, highlighting how the United States has always been a safe haven for a melting pot of cultures and like-minded immigrants.

Delving deeper into ‘Lady Liberty’, Kimberlin explains: “As the daughter of an immigrant, I saw the pride my mother felt when she became an American citizen. Yet now, instead of pride, many immigrants are living in fear, and decent Americans are ashamed at the attacks on the fundamental liberties we all believe in.” The accompanying music video is certainly striking and evocative, truly wrapping the song’s powerful message in urgency and intensity.
