Seán Griffin Announces Upcoming Album with New Single ‘Be My Girl’

A wholesome window into Griffin’s introspective songwriting and folk-rock euphoria, a sonic imprint that seamlessly shifts from tenderness to euphoria at a moment’s notice.

We have written at length about Seán Griffin in a series of previous articles, praising the New York-based troubadour for his punchy, raw character and timeless allure. He’s been rather busy throughout 2025, releasing a bunch of singles that slowly revealed a larger, cohesive artistic vision. It turns out, such vision will be fully unveiled on April 17, when Griffin is set to release his debut solo album, ‘People Are Mad’. For now, though, Seán gifts us another track taken from that very same record, a new piece of his creative puzzle.

‘Be My Girl’ is exactly that, a wholesome window into Griffin’s introspective songwriting and indie-rock euphoria, a sonic imprint that seamlessly shifts from tenderness to euphoria at a moment’s notice. It’s a triumphant release, as far as we are concerned, a song that embraces Seán’s folk influences and wraps them into heavier distortions, the perfect backdrop for his partly melancholic and fully charming vocals. It’s a functional marriage of intents, with meaningful and lovable lyricism exposing Griffin’s heightened sensibility.

Delving deeper into the song, the American artist explains: “It’s a raw expression of deep loneliness and daily grind, where the weary, isolated narrator pleads for a woman to become his partner and provide the companionship and understanding needed to escape his emotional pain and empty routine. The idea of complementarity and purpose in a vocational approach to a relationship and marriage.” Griffin has grown a lot since his Irish punk beginnings with The Ruffians. He’s on a solo mission now.
