We were writing about Silver Liz just over a month ago. The Brooklyn-based pair have recently returned after a three-year hiatus with a newly-found creative spark, a feature that appears to be stemming from Matt Wagner’s own personal forays into electronic music. Such an ethos meets Carrie Wagner’s dreamy and hazy vocals, making for a weird, unexpected, yet incredibly hypnotic sonic formula, one steeped in leftfield indietronica and rigorous synth work.
‘Through The Trees’ is the perfect example of that, a track that introduces a keen cinematic quality to Silver Liz’s ever-evolving artistry. Oscillating between luscious vocals, tender acoustic guitars and hard-hitting, trance-flavoured tones, the record slowly grows into a liminal crescendo, one that’s the perfect example of the American duo’s newly found aural genius.
Silver Liz’s upcoming album ‘III’ is expected on January 30th 2026, via Extremely Pure.
