The keen reader might remember Inez Leon from a couple of features we published earlier this year. Pieces such as ‘Dios A Ella’ were truly appreciated, showcasing Leon’s meaningful foray into Spanish rock territories with a 90s twist. ‘Del Alhelí’ followed suit, a measured and nuanced EP that confirmed the Mexican-Korean creative as a sublime songwriter and musician. Well, she’s not done yet: ‘Show Me How’ sees Inez Leon returning onto the global scene with an unexpected – but not surprising – R&B cut.
Packed with evocative lyricism and heartwarming melodies, ‘Show Me How’ sees Leon scrambling the project’s sonic references, leaving behind fuzzy guitars and indie influences in favour of the most timeless soulful flavourings, a stream of relatable, lovable goodness that’s hard to resist. Built on a measured yet impactful production, the record sees Inez’ putting her malleable and diverse vocals on display; she’s really comfortable in a variety of settings, a testament to her strong musicianship.
In fact, Leon is a trained guitarist, a gifted producer and a hypnotic singer. Boasting academic training in Los Angeles, Inez moves with purpose and expert judgement, expressing herself in whichever genre and medium she might feel appropriate. That’s what it means to be truly talented and skilled. Furthermore, ‘Show Me How’ also comes with a stunning music video, directed by Julian Strauss Biro and produced and choreographed by Nicole Yim.
