Chellcy Reitsma Delivers Eclectic and Meaningful Album ‘Carpe Diem’

A unique and eclectic record, ‘Carpe Diem’ marks our point of entry into the musical landscape of talented songstress and accomplished performing artist Chellcy Reitsma. Proficient in both the aural and visual mediums, the Dutch-American creative draws elegantly from a variety of sources, be it galloping bluesy cuts or more reflective, atmospheric goodness. If we dive into the album, ‘Artist’s Plight’ is the perfect example of Reitsma’s vivid storytelling. Layering a soothing, evocative instrumental against resonant spoken words and rebellious imagery, the piece feels quite unique and special.

Title track ‘Carpe Diem’ gets back to familiar territories, unfolding a soulful blues-infused anthem with a potent and catchy chorus. Reitsma’s malleable and luscious vocals are the perfect match for such vivid and cathartic material, truly showcasing the heightened musicianship held by the talented singer. Further down the album, the aptly titled ‘Rock’n’Roll Lover’ covers a great deal of rowdy rock goodness and guitar-driven euphoria, all soaked into a vintage, ‘70s-esque twist.

Delving deeper into her artistry, Reitsma explains: “My mission as an artist is to create music, poetry and art that is authentic, honest, deeply personal, inspirational, and empowering; that speaks to people and touches an emotional chord; that has a lot of symbolism with multiple layers of meaning and depth.”
