The Tin Can Collective Uncover Nostalgic, Honest Album ‘The Thrill is Gone and I Can’t Get It Back’

A vivid, personal record, ‘The Thrill Is Gone And I Can’t Get It Back’ describes what happens when the youth rebellion gives way to mature adulthood. It’s not so much a nostalgic record, more of a testament and an acknowledgement of things that were, and that are not anymore. Excuse the cryptic expression, we certainly don’t mean to sound prophetic or anything, but in the case of The Tin Can Collective, it all makes sense. Their latest album is not moody or reflective, more of a committed and vibrant collection of memories delivered with heartfelt catharsis and controlled euphoria.

Have you ever asked yourself if the thrill is gone? The Long Island-based outfit certainly has. ‘The Thrill is Gone And I Can’t Get It Back’ is a perfect example of the group’s eclectic aural outlook, a wholesome sonic profile that encompasses alt-rock, indie, and emo territories. It sort of reminds us of Modest Mouse from time to time, but in truth, influences are far and wide, and The Tin Can Collective are indeed occupying a cultural space that’s solely theirs. ‘Trouble’ served as a single, a particularly honest and curious song penned by head honcho John Warren.

His sister Jess Warren and Cass Kadow complete the core lineup, joined on the album by Paul Motisi and Pete Cianciatto. Delving deeper into ‘Trouble’, Warren explains: “It is about the shift from living fast and free to facing the consequences and the ghosts you collect along the way.”
