Third Girl From The Left Returns with Blissful, Evocative Piece ‘Sienna’

Following up on the hypnotic ‘Tick Tock’, celebrated by Mesmerized as “an intense, gloomy cut evoking a striking sense of urgency”, British songstress Third Girl From The Left returns today with her newest offering, ‘Sienna’. This time around, she finds a heartwarming, meaningful refuge in tender ballad territories, layering an elegant, evocative piano under her wholesome, expressive vocals. Keeping the piece conventional and measured, TGFTL unfurls a listening experience that’s familiar and cathartic, yet driven by purpose and with a great deal of songwriting gold.

A dreamy and expressive cello introduces ‘Sienna’ to hints of orchestral lusciousness, thanks to multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and Bookshop Band member Beth Porter. The result of such a creative collaboration ends up being three minutes of pure bliss, a gentle caress in an otherwise gloomy and troubled reality. Yet, there’s an easter egg… connecting with some of her previous material, Third Girl From The Left crafts a bold, experimental outro, with an electronic alarm-like sound reminiscent of ‘Dance’ and ‘Tick Tock’.

That said, ‘Sienna’ also allows us to approach TGFTL’s catalogue with a more cohesive, observant look. It’s clear that the project doesn’t set itself any genre boundaries, instead allowing the bold, committed British creative to wander freely wherever music might take her… we love this approach, it’s certainly honest and relatable, also making space for different songwriting threads and moods. Look out for more music to follow!
