Discover Dogmile’s Wholesome, Vibrant Aural Universe in ‘Alight’

Incredibly hazy and vibrant, ‘Alight’ sounds like a supercharged fever dream, a slice of escapism and hidden psychedelia delivered by the wholesome creative ethos of American singer and musician Dogmile. Gearing for an EP out tomorrow – ‘Static Retracted’ – the talented artist has been delving deeper into organic, heartwarming material, crafting an aural body of work that’s timeless and effortless, yet hard-hitting and nostalgic. Whichever way you look at it, it’s clear that Dogmile doesn’t follow a popular formula or any kind of trend.

Instead, he pursues the kind of artistry that’s often reserved for off-kilter, shy creatives, as they slowly unfurl popular culture and discover new sonic horizons. ‘Alight’ is partly that, with lush, lo-fi-coded guitars and understated drums laying the groundwork for Dogmile’s cathartic, intimate vocals. ‘Static Retracted’ is set to follow the same path, threading the fine line between melancholia and hope, nostalgia and modernity.

Delving deeper into his work, Dogmile explains: “The idea behind it was to cut through the noise and pull back any external static where possible. All in search of greater clarity, but going through the muck to get there. I played all the instruments and produced it in my friend’s basement, recording all the drum parts onto cassette tape.”
