Packed with positive, confident and electrifying lyricism, ‘Fever’ is a magnetic display of what Marseille have to offer. One of Britain’s most exciting upcoming indie outfits, the Derbyshire-based group have so far impressed a long list of tastemakers and industry personnel, alongside a nationwide tour planned for November. Championed by BBC6 Music, Radio X and overseas outlets such as KEXP and Sirius XM, Marseille do seem to be the real deal.
In fact, listening to ‘Fever’, that would be the natural conclusion. Steeped in roaring, gripping indie rock matter, the group draws from the great Britpop tradition while turning up the distortion levels, making for an explosive and charming sonic allure. Will Brown’s anthemic and sleazy vocals are the perfect match for such a hard-hitting aural formula. Joe Labram (lead guitar), Lennon Hall (rhythm guitar), Will Sabey (bass), and Tom Spray (drums) complete the talented line-up.
Delving deeper into the single, Brown explains: “The lyrical content of Fever is my mantra; you can’t listen to naysayers and negativity all your life. No matter what you do, there’s always someone out there who is going to have a problem with it, but if something you love doing and you’re not hurting anyone, then that’s their problem.”
