soft siren Catch a Ray of Light in Psych-Indie Cut ‘California Heatwave’

We are pretty obsessed with soft siren. After all, from a blog called Mesmerized, the reader wouldn’t expect anything less. The Los Angeles-based group perfectly matches our energy, with a shiny and hazy blend of shoegaze and dream pop guided by the lush, hypnotic vocals of frontwoman CASHFORGOLD. Her feverish and sultry aesthetic ethos also carries the project’s image, giving it a highly nostalgic, escapism-driven allure. Sidewalks & Skeleton and Michael Coe (Count The Clock) complete the talented lineup.

We covered soft siren earlier this year, celebrating ‘Dethereal’ as “keeping us glued to our headphones, willingly subjecting ourselves to the group’s melancholic, decadent and mystic character.” We stand by our words; the listening experience is certainly unique and niche, and always quite eclectic. ‘California Heatwave’ is the strongest evidence of that. Incorporating a more slick and uplifting West Coast indie flair, the record feels psychedelic and more grounded. It’s still the soft siren we know and love, just with less reverb and a lot more groove.

We respect that. It’s a great record as always; the American band rarely disappoints. Look out for an upcoming album, stay tuned!
