‘Storm Corrosion’ could be defined as a track in denial; haunting and hard-hitting, the piece showcases all of the musical prowess and lyrical inspiration enjoyed by Washington D.C.-based creative Solamente. Championing a keen prog metal and rock outlook, the talented musician, singer, and songwriter writes material that’s technically advanced, yet lyrically meaningful. He’s the whole package. Moving with purpose and fierceness, Solamente doesn’t follow pre-established formulas or viral trends, instead walking an artistic path that’s uniquely his.
You see, ‘Storm Corrosion’ is merely a radio edit, with the original version clocking between eight and ten minutes. Such a substantial single is taken from Solamente’s upcoming concept album, ‘Requiem: Grief in Five Stages’, built on the five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance). Each track in the LP corresponds to a specific emotion, in what appears to be a luscious cinematic experience, a comprehensive, long record that will require attention and understanding.
Overarching ethos aside, ‘Storm Corrosion’ is an impressive slice of prog-metal, a Dream Theater-esque evocative opera that will likely appeal to an audience of musicians and genre-lovers. Solamente’s deep, gloomy vocals are a perfect match for such a vivid and electrifying sonic matter. Look out for ‘Requiem: Grief in Five Stages’, out on October 31st.
