Horizonte Lied Are on a Remastering Mission in ‘Oculto En Tus Ojos’

Mexican adventurers Horizonte Lied are back with their remasters; they have been on a mission to recover some of their old records and give them a new lease of life. Although their sonic imprint is rather nostalgic – often drenched in obscure new wave and synthwave allure – their overall style is timeless, meaning it would have worked well back in the 80s and 90s, as much as it does now. If you are keen, here’s our previous article on the Monterrey-based outfit.

Recently, Horizonte Lied have shared their latest release, which is once again a remaster. ‘Oculto En Tus Ojos’ is the song in question, a melancholic and bittersweet synthwave cut with a gloomy, intense outlook. Influences are far and wide, but as always, there’s a certain Dave Gahan-esque flair in it all. Depeche Mode are one of Horizonte Lied’s biggest inspirations, especially in this case through ‘Songs of Faith’ and ‘Devotion’.

‘Oculto En Tus Ojos’ is part of a larger project called ‘Final Remasters’, aiming at rediscovering Horizonte Lied’s past catalogue. They are quite adamant about the reason why; at the time of their original release, the tracks didn’t get a lot of marketing and traction, and this is the band’s attempt to change that. “The Final Remasters project is set to conclude with an EP and Maxi-Single around the end of this year”, Horizonte Lied explain.
