Alisa Stepura Unleashes Her Roaring Guitar in ‘Birds Are Dinosaurs Too’ and ‘Aftertaste’

There’s something incredibly refreshing in ‘Birds Are Dinosaurs Too’. You see, at a time where everyone is striving for extreme polishing and luscious records, Alisa Stepura enters the music industry with unapologetic roaring flair, serving an unmistakable serving of rock’n’roll attitude and fuzzy distortion. ‘Birds Are Dinosaurs Too’ is Stepura’s latest effort, a collection of eight powerful and electrifying tracks that feel nostalgic and old school, yet also relevant and rebellious.

Sure, Alisa’s aural references might be drenched in rock history, but given the context she’s operating in, her music sounds more like a freedom statement. Delivering confident, cathartic guitar riffs, the talented British musician offers something more authentic and wholesome than the usual mainstream slop. Opener and single ‘Aftertaste’ is a particularly bold episode in the album.

Delving deeper into the making of ‘Aftertaste’, Stepura explains: I initially recorded the whole song on reel-to-reel tape. Pretty much everything but the vocals and the synth section at the end comes straight from those tape recordings and was later mixed to sound more modern. It was incredibly fun to use all kinds of ‘old-school’ equipment, and also to distance myself from the computer during the recording process.”
