There’s quite an interesting storyline behind D Boone Pittman. A retired worship minister, the talented creative is now fully focused on his musical endeavours, sharing a beautiful and nostalgic blend of Appalachian folk and Americana that’s hard to resist. The listening experience is heartwarming and meaningful, with Pittman’s smokey, malleable vocal tone laid upon a charming acoustic guitar and traditional arrangements, all steeped in fiddles and country-flavoured guitar tones.
‘The Gardener’ is Boone’s latest effort. A wholesome and authentic offering, the record sees Pittman delving into introspective territories, with a rush of childhood memories taking him right back to his grandmother tending the garden. Although the lyrical matter might appear simple on the surface, there’s a lot of hidden imagery and timeless reflections in it, making for a bittersweet song that’s equally nostalgic and hopeful. A wonderful tribute to the good times gone.
Hailing from Eastern Kentucky, D Boone Pittman speaks rather highly of his Appalachian homeland: “I think this is the most beautiful place on the planet. I think the people who live here are wonderful people. There’s just so much here to sing about and write about.” Notably, the American troubadour was awarded Songwriter of the Year at the Josie Music Awards, as well as Best Original Song at the 2024 Appalachian Entertainment Awards.
