A nugget of bold pop-punk charisma and electrifying nostalgia, ‘Fired Up’ is a perfect point of entry into Indoor Friends’ fierce artistic universe. Channelling early ‘2000 punk influences and relatable lyrical formulas, the project does a good job of blending fuzzy and striking guitar riffs with more evocative, lush melodies, making for material that’s hard-hitting and fast-paced, yet also expressive and meaningful.
‘Fired Up’ is the perfect evidence of that. Built on a college punk-esque livery, the single flourishes on a roller coaster of emotions, be it anger, hope and disillusionment. Eventually, it’s clear that Indoor Friends are ready for everything, making peace with their past and looking at the future with rebellious confidence. In a way, the song draws a curious parallel with the gloomy reality of our times; even if the outlook is dark, we’ll keep fighting.
Delving deeper into the song, Indoor Friends explain: “‘Fired Up’ is a bold challenge to the world: try to break our spirit, try to outlast our determination. At its core, the song is a tribute to the invincibility we felt during the pivotal moments of our youth; the moments when our time here seemed infinite, dreams felt within reach, and setbacks only made us stronger.”
Indoor Friends are Amanda Bysheim (lead vocals), Kat Delitto (lead guitar), Krista Marie Setera (ukulele and backing vocals), Ben Bonadies (bass) and Matt Wilson (drums).
