Norwegian Outfit GISKE Announce Comeback Album ‘Ten Visits, Ten Songs’

It took us a while to fully comprehend the magnitude of GISKE’s artistry. You see, the Norwegian band have been active for years in the rock and pop landscape, boasting an album and numerous singles to their name. Yet, under the surface, the driving force behind the group is a cousin duo, Alex Rinde and Rune Berg. Some of you might recognise them from another project, The Margarets, an endeavour that gained them a Norwegian gold album and four top-ten hits between 2002 and 2008.

It turns out, Alex and Rune have been making and writing music all their life, jumping from project to project with the same sense of wonder as their early days. They never get tired of it, so much so that GISKE – the latest iteration of their collaboration – is bound to release a brand new album this fall, ‘Ten Visits, Ten Songs’. The name refers to the many trips Rune took to the Giske Island, where Alex lives. ‘Light Upon The Water’ was born from one of those sessions, a slice of gentle, nostalgic songwriting and folk-flavoured aural goodness.

Introduced by an elegant acoustic guitar and feather-like drum goodness, ‘Light Upon The Water’ also benefits from lush fiddles and Alex’s heartwarming, evocative vocals, a joy to listen to. Overall, the single is welcoming and relatable, a slice of comfort and kindness in an overly gloomy world.
