Blacklight Beat Patrol Serves Up Aural Euphoria in ‘Awe Walk’

We have the deepest respect for any sonic explorer out there. Bold, willing artistic figures going where no musician has gone before, deconstructing genres and established formulas in favour of abstract compositions and imaginative aural euphoria. Blacklight Beat Patrol belongs to such a category, fiercely driving forward an electronic project that thrives on the fringe, an endeavour that flourishes in the leftfield. ‘Awe Walk’ is the perfect evidence of that.

Built on deceitful minimalism, the track weaves in and out of familiar sonic fragments and popular timbres, then breaks them down to their inner core, with a glitch-driven approach that’s ever-modulating and rather intense. Bubbly synth-powered arpeggios coexist with loud, massive hip-hop-flavoured beats, with a wealth of textures and aleatory soundscapes wrapping them all in nostalgic artistic allure.

‘Awe Walk’ anticipates an upcoming album, expected later this year. Speaking about the inspiration behind his work, American creative Blacklight Beat Patrol explains: “I find joy in blending genres and sounds that shouldn’t work together — broken grooves, conflicting layers, fragments that feel like they’re falling apart until they snap into place. That’s the energy and approach I’m carrying forward with this record.” Known by day as Scott R. Corneau, the talented Rhode Island-based hero is onto something real, something wholesome and vibrant.
