Norwegian Songstress Hounds Returns with ‘sky king’

There’s something poetic in Hounds producing all her material. It just means that the incredible cathartic character in her songs is truly authentic; pure and unfiltered Norwegian artistry. Yet, Hounds is no ordinary artist: her ability to write soothing, melancholic pieces is virtually unmatched, with ‘sky sking’ showcasing that once again.

As the talented songstress explains: “‘sky king’ captures the ephemeral nature of memory, a wistful reflection on lost possibilities.” Steeped in heartwarming nostalgia and a heightened cinematic flair, the track raises the intensity as it progresses, with Hounds’ hypnotising and expressive vocals completely capturing the listeners’ attention.

Speaking more in depth about the lyricism behind the song, the Norwegian creative continues: “A nod to the semi-viral internet sensation Richard Russell, a Horizon Air ground service agent who gained notoriety for stealing and eventually crashing an (empty) aeroplane in 2018. Not seeming to be driven by malicious intent, Richard spent his last hours chatting casually to the control tower agents and attempting barrel rolls.”
