Yulia Shares Virtuoso Fusion Piece ‘Let’s Agree To Love’

The listening experience behind ‘Let’s Agree To Love’ is quite nostalgic, reminding us of the fusion golden era across the ‘90s and the ‘80s. Discover Yulia.

A quick glance at Yulia’s Instagram bio reveals her impressive musical pedigree: “International award-winning composer/pianist/producer/educator/Recording Academy/GRAMMY voting member…” It’s obvious that the Dallas-based musician lives and breathes music, championing a variety of roles that come easily to her, given her heightened musicianship and longstanding experience. ‘Let’s Agree To Love’ is the perfect evidence of that, a fusion tune that sees Yulia embracing aural virtuosity and traditional jazz-coded harmonies.

In it, Yulia teams up with sax player Jackiem Joyner, here lending his raspy, malleable melodies to the project’s overall cause. The listening experience is quite nostalgic, we have to say: everything reminds us of the fusion golden era across the ‘90s and the ‘80s, especially when it comes to records that we targeted towards musicians themselves. Grammy-awarded mixing engineer Tre Nagell was put in charge of mixing and mastering.

Delving deeper into the eclectic ethos that propels the record, Yulia explains: “For me, this is a special project where I not only composed the song and played piano/keys parts, but took full responsibility as producer and arranger. Participants are world-class musicians. Also, the message itself seeks to inspire and motivate people to love each other.” Notably, Yulia carries a strong religious faith, a feature that guides her artistic and lyrical endeavours.
