Woodpig Debut with Gentle and Meaningful Cut ‘When the Winds Came’

Marking Woodpig’s debut studio release, ‘When the Winds Came’ offers an evocative and meaningful look at the Hastings-based project, now seemingly entering its golden era. Spearheaded by songwriter Al Mitchell as an antidote to personal challenges and tumultuous happenings, the Woodpig moniker has now taken a collective connotation, with musicians and creatives Harrison Caruana, Josh Gentle, and Mol Jo Tucker joining the boat in hopes of building something that matters.

Well, they built and built, and they’ve done it. ‘When the Winds Came’ is a stunning display of nuanced and elegant musicianship, a committed folk-flavoured piece steeped in acoustic tones and malleable, floating vocals. Whispering a bittersweet tale of loss and subsequent hope, the single will likely connect with any grieving soul out there, offering a rain of sunlight and a path forward. Tucker’s vocals are delivered gently and with poised flair, connecting with any like-minded listeners with heartwarming energy.

Delving deeper into the inspiration behind the piece, Woodpig explains: “The track acknowledges the pain of endings but also the lingering warmth of love that doesn’t fully disappear. It is gentle yet powerful, simple yet layered, and ultimately points toward resilience.” Overall, the future looks bright for the British outfit, and we look forward to learn what’s next for them.
