William J. Sullivan and Zilla Rocca Team Up on ‘Good Fences Make Good Neighbors’

Boasting an intense, fiery and fuzzy character, ‘Good Fences Make Good Neighbors’ is a striking single. Featuring William J. Sullivan’s creative vision and inspired songwriting, the track draws from the ‘good neighbour’ imagery to highlight the fictitious peace of suburban areas. Coupled with an overall critical look at adulthood and the often hidden micro conflicts between people, the record reveals itself as a nugget of energy and spicy charisma, one benefiting from Zilla Rocca’s punchy vocal tone.

A celebrated producer, mixer and writer, William J. Sullivan holds a longstanding experience in the music industry, having worked with the likes of Kid Cudi, Rosalía, Phoebe Bridgers, Denzel Curry, and Paris Texas, among others. ‘Good Fences Make Good Neighbors’ offers us an intriguing preview of Sullivan’s upcoming album ‘Just Call Me Bill’, an eclectic collection of old-school flavoured cuts featuring a wide array of vocalists (Zilla Rocca, Curly Castro and Rob Sonic, among others).

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Sullivan explains: “It was the second song I did for this project. I wanted it to touch on a little bit of every aspect of my style. Doing the drum break live, low-tuned noisy guitars and bangin’ kicks and 808s. I came up with a heavy and somewhat ‘carefree’ beat for once. In the past, I’d never made something that was heavy and not ‘mean’ sounding at the same time.”
