Waves Of The Echo Unveil Anthemic Comeback Single ‘Words’

Stepping back into the global music scene after an eleven-year hiatus, Finnish group Waves Of The Echo reaffirm their anthemic, eclectic character with new single ‘Words’.

We always get a little teary when a band or an artist come back to the music industry after years of inactivity. It’s an undeniable, meaningful move, signalling the return of a deep artistic motivation, the willingness to express oneself through music and lyrics. We feel as though that’s a powerful statement, the kind of statement that’s just been declared by Waves of The Echo. Closing a whopping eleven-year hiatus, the talented Finnish band has very recently unveiled their comeback single, ‘Words’.

The group’s previous record dates back to 2015, with ‘FADING DAYLIGHT, BRIGHT NIGHTS’ being a striking example of their eclectic indie-laden outlook. Blending new wave influences, 80s synthwork and anthemic melodies, Waves Of The Echo struck a sonic signature that’s bold and fierce, but also nuanced and expansive. ‘Words’ builds on that strong foundation, doubling down on its urgent and intense energy and potent lyricism. Together with the new single, the Helsinki-based outfit is currently busy on a live tour across Finland and the Baltic. It’s the start of a new era for them…

Delving deeper into the lyrical ethos that propels ‘Words’, Waves Of The Echo explains: “The lyrics are about the words we accidentally say to one another in the heat of the moment. All the beautiful words stay in our minds until they gradually fade into warm memories. The worst, most hurtful words, however, we remember with vivid detail for the rest of our lives. People age, words don’t.”
